To date, Emimen has won 11 Grammys, but never for Album of the Year or Record of the Year. He’ll get another shot at both of those titles this time around thanks to Recovery and his hit single featuring Rihanna ”Love The Way You Lie.” He’s also up for Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, and… I know I’m missing a couple, but there are just so many!

I guess Eminem was right.

“We thought that there’s no better way to kick off the show than a performance from Eminem,” MTV general manager Stephen Friedman told Pollstar.

Last night’s ceremony was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. In addition to the stars eye-catching performances (and outfits like Lady Gaga’s meat dress!), the stage was just as impressive with a huge, rotating billboard, two video screens, a rounded stage and curving catwalk.

After his performance, Eminem walked away with two wins for Best Male Video and Best Hip Hop Video, both for “Not Afraid.”

If you didn’t catch Eminem at last night’s ceremony, you still have a chance to see him perform alongside Jay-Z tonight and tomorrow at the Yankees Stadium in New York. Get your Eminem tickets before it’s too late!

The superstar rapper is referring to Saffal “Fowl” Tall, the 18-year old Detroit native who was the winner of the national freestyle rap battle competition hosted by Eminem in… you guessed it… Detroit! “Fowl” beat out competing rappers from New York, Philly, Atlanta, and San Francisco to name a few. He won the Red Bull EmSee title.

The competition was created to resemble the face-to-face verbal sparring featured in Eminem’s 2002 movie, “8 Mile.” The Detroit homeboy served as both host and judge at the event.

You can catch Eminem in Detroit doing his own rap thing live when he performs with Jay-Z tonight and tomorrow at Comerica Park. Later in the month, 9/13-14 to be exact, the dynamic duo play a 2-night gig at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, NY.

Unfortunately for him, his album, Praise and Blame, only made number 2, losing to Eminem’s Recovery. Bob Dylan currently holds the record with Together Through Life which came out last year when he was 67.

Jones is looking to get a 3rd number 1 album. His last was Reload in 1999.

Recovery has currently been at the top for 5 weeks straight. Eminem has kept Jones from gaining the title, and by the looks of it, Recovery will stay at the top for a long, long time.

By then, news of the planned performance had already leaked, and the MOFTB didn’t want another riot like what happened at last week’s free Drake concert with 10,000 disorderly fans.

Never the type to be deterred, Eminem and Jay-Z took switched the venue from inside the Ed Sullivan Theatre Marquee to the roof. Because the roof is private property, the rappers were able to skip the permit process and proceed, with only one catch: only about 100 fans were able to see the concert.

For the new record, fans can expect guest appearances from Pink, Lil Wayne and Rihanna.  Bringing in a new and very different mix of collaborators creates a diverse and well rounded sound while Eminem makes magic with his rhymes.

Two singles, “Not Afraid” and most recently “Won’t Back Down” have already been introduced.  Official or unofficial, the new Eminem album is up there amongst some of his best work to date!

Currently Eminem is gearing up for the release of his new record, Recovery, which is scheduled to hit stores June 22, 2010. The first track, “Not Afraid,” was unveiled two weeks ago and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 100 chart and #1 on the iTunes chart.

Eminem will also be joining Jay-Z for two epic performances in two stadiums, two cities. Each artist will be headlining in his own respective hometown: Eminem at Detroit’s Comerica Park and Jay-Z at NYC’s Yankee Stadium. The Detroit show is scheduled for Sept 2, 2010; the New York show is set for Sept 13, 2010. If you are in the area, check your local listing for Eminem tickets.These are two shows not to miss!

In the meantime, tune in to the BET Awards ceremony airing live Sunday, June 27th from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The event will be hosted by the hip hop queen herself, Queen Latifah.

Eminem and Lil Wayne also rapped during Drake’s performance of “Forever,” which irked some viewers because of the numerous bleeps and censors during the song. A CBS spokesman told the Associated Press that “it was a rousing musical performance, but words were edited from the live telecast that didn’t meet our broadcast standards. We have great respect for artists’ creative freedom, but there are certain things you can’t say, or sing, on television.”

The bad boy rapper received nods for “Rap Album of the Year,” “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” for “Crack A Bottle” with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, and “Best Rap Solo Performance” for “Beautiful.”

Eminem, who released “Relapse” in May of 2009, released “Relapse:Refill” in time for the holidays – it includes five new tracks, meant to “tied fans over” until the release of “Relapse 2.”

Eminem has been nominated for the Best Male Video award for “We Made You.” He’ll be up against Jay-Z’s “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune),” T.I.’s “Live Your Life,” Ne-Yo’s “Miss Independent” and Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown.”

In the past, Eminem won the Moonman for Best Male Video  in 2000 for “The Real Slim Shady” and again in 2002 for “Without Me.”
